For President, specifically...

With the Presidential elections coming up in a little over two years, its important to keep track of who we might see on the ballot. Technically hundreds of Americans run for election each year, but lets look at some of the possible frontrunners for the upcoming election.
Democratic Party
Joe Biden
The current President has announced on several occasions he will seek reelection, despite as many as 75% of Democrats hoping he doesn't
Kamala Harris
Although she (and all others on this list aside from Joe Biden) hasn't announced a desire to run, many have speculated that if Biden decides not to run, the current Vice President and 2020 hopeful may decide to
Bernie Sanders
The independent senator has run for President in 2016 and 2020, and may decide to run again. At 82 years old, he would be Americas oldest president, beating Biden's and Trump's previous records. But maybe third time really is a charm.
Gavin Newsom
The current governor of California recently won a recall vote by wide margins, and is now one of Democrats top picks for President, according to polls. Some of his recent actions have some speculating he is preparing for a 2024 bid.
Eric Adams
The newly elected mayor of New York City has reportedly hinted at running in 2024, and with his moderate stance, he stands a good chance at attracting votes from both sides of the political spectrum
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
The controversial House Representative from NYC hasn't publicly shown signs of seeking a 2024 run, but many of her supporters have been pushing online for her to run.
Pete Buttigieg
The former mayor from Indiana recently picked up a new job as Secretary of Transportation in the Biden Administration. Despite being relatively young at only 40 years old, he has a long list of qualifications that might boost his chances if he decided to run, having attended both Harvard and Oxford, as well as serving in the US Navy.
Republican Party
Donald Trump
The former President still hasn't announced his candidacy, but we all know it's just a matter of time. If he reelected, he would be just the second President to win a nonconsecutive second term, after Grover Cleveland.
Ron DeSantis
The current governor of Florida is popular among conservatives, and if he decides to run, stands a good chance at securing the Republican ticket. However, due to his strong support for Trump, he is unlikely to run if Trump decides to.
Ted Cruz
The 2016 hopeful and senator from Texas has all but announced his desire to run for President a second time in 2024, but like DeSantis, only if Trump doesn't decide to. And having come in at second place in the 2016 Republican primary with over 25% of the vote, he stands a good chance.
Liz Cheney
Despite having recently lost reelection as Wyoming's sole House Representative, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney is reportedly considering running for President in 2024. Cheney is one of the few Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, resulting in a public feud between the two, including Trump campaigning against her in her recent reelection race.
Nikki Haley
The two-term governor of South Carolina and ambassador to the UN under the Trump administration is another prominent Republican who has recently been hinting at running for office in 2024, but like DeSantis and Cruz, only if Trump doesn't.
Mike Pence
After voting to accept the results of the 2020 election in Biden's favor, the ex-Vice President and governor of Indiana has been in hot water with Trump and his supporters. And with recent stops in states like Iowa and New Hampshire, as well as him and Trump supporting competing candidates, many see this as him setting up for a 2024 run.
